High National Election Commission announces referral of Parliamentary candidates the House of Representatives for jurisdiction" and prepares to publish preliminary lists of candidates.

Tripoli, 5 December 2021 (Lana) The High National Election Commission said that the headquarters of the Commission are witnessing a marked increase in number of candidates to run for election to the House of Representatives, where the total number of candidates in all constituencies has reached (3967) candidates according to statistics on Saturday, December 4th, 2021.

The Commission told Lana correspondent that ‘as a measure aimed at giving all files received from the offices of the Electoral Administration the right to be examined and checked, in accordance with conditions stipulated for by the electoral laws, the files are referred, in groups, to the competent authorities.

The Head of the candidates section of the Operations Department of the National High Election Commission (Al-Tawati Ramadan Al-Tawati) told Lana that the department referred these files first to the competent authorities to match the validity of the data provided by the candidates.

 A total of 2869 files were forwarded in preparation for the publication of the preliminary lists of candidates for the House of Representatives, he said.

The period of appeals and complaints about these nominations will then begin, and when the legal period of appeals set by the laws (12) days expires, the final lists of candidates will then be published, and the names to be listed will be final and will be included in the ballot papers.
