Tripoli, 27 November 2021 (Lana) Libya’s presidential and parliamentary elections will allow Libyans to choose their president themselves, US Ambassador to Libya told a youth conference here on Saturday. He called for active participation of young people, who, he said make up 50 percent of the population, in this democratic transition.

"Libyans are closer and closer today to forming a stable future for themselves, and are shifting from division and war to comprehensive national reconciliation," the Ambassador said in a speech at the opening of the National Youth Forum held today at the Rexus Hotel.

"Young people have a responsibility to play an important role in the political process, and to take into account that decisions that are taken do not affect them today, but future generations, which is a historic responsibility.

The ambassador said Libyans may not agree on a single candidate but they agree on the future of their country, calling on young people to make their voices heard.
