China calls on Libyan parties to overcome differences and move forward with electoral process.

  New York, 24 November 2021 (Lana) China urged all parties in Libya to overcome their differences and move forward towards the electoral process, and called for all foreign forces and mercenaries to be withdraw as soon as possible.

   This came in the remarks that Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dai Ping made during a session of the Security Council, regarding the briefing of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, on Tuesday, on the situation in Libya.

  Dai Ping said the ceasefire agreement in Libya, signed in October 2020, has held up so far and progress has been made in the electoral process, pointing to the recent Paris International Conference on Libya and the message put through by participants regarding the commitment to conduct the elections and to complete the implementation of the cease-fire agreement.

The Chinese delegate stressed the need for the International Criminal Court to play a supportive role in the political process and reconciliation in Libya, underscoring need for all foreign forces and mercenaries to leave Libya, in order to create an environment conducive to the organization of elections. He stressed Beijing's position that has not changed towards the International Criminal Court regarding the consideration of the situation Libya.
