Tripoli, 18 November 2021 (Lana) The High Council of State said it was surprised by what it described as continuing attempts to support conducting of elections on improper and non-consensual grounds that represents the viewpoint of one party, and ignores the disagreement over these laws in the Presidential Council and the House of Representatives, as well as popular demands expressed by many municipalities and strong political and social dignitaries.

"While we expect the international community and UNSMIL to do more to support consensus on the electoral process, for successful and acceptable elections, we are surprised by the continuing attempts to support elections on improper and non-consensual grounds," the Council said in a statement.

The Council considered that (who passed flawed, unconstitutional laws, and anyone who acted upon or supported these abuses are the real obstructers of holding of elections, calling for more consultation to reach an acceptable consensus process on the elections

‘While we adhere to the political agreement, Security Council resolutions, the outcome of the Berlin Conference and the roadmap for the political dialogue meeting, we affirm that the ownership of the political process is purely Libyan, and that the role of the international community is to help create a consensus among Libyans, and not to monopolize this process,’ the council said.
