Prime Minister stresses shortage and theft of fuel in southern region.

Tripoli, 18 November, 2021 (Lana) - During his visit to the headquarters of the Brega Oil Marketing Company in Tripoli, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, is addressing the contiuning problem of fuel availability in the southern region.

 Government sources stated that Al-Dabaiba held an expanded meeting with the company, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ramadan Bujanah, Minister of Interior Khaled Mazen and the Undersecretary for Directorates Affairs and security directors in the southern region, as well as directors of departments in Brega Company and managers of distribution companies (Libya Oil - Waha Al-Sharara). The Prime Minister stressed that fuel shoratgess, theft and the continued suffering of the citizen must end, and to find practical solutions to this problem during this meeting.

The head of the government stressed the need to increase the quantities allocated by the Brega Company for the benefit of the warehouse in the region, to secure them and ensure their distribution. For his part, the director of the Brega Oil Marketing Company explained the measures that the company will take by increasing the quantities and activating the Sabha warehouse to its maximum capacity, stressing the availability of the required quantities of fuel.

 In statment during the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Abu Janah stressed that the problem of fuel availability witnessed a relative breakthrough in the region, but the problem must be fully addressed so that citizens in the southern region enjoy part of their rights.

At the conclusion of the meeting, number of measures and procedures were taken, including increasing the quantities allocated to the southern region to reach one million liters per day instead of 500 thousand liters per day, provided that within a month from the date of this meeting, the Sabha warehouse will be filled to its full capacity, which amounts to 27 million liters. During the meeting, the joint force formed from the battalions 166 and Tariq bin Ziyad was assigned to secure the arrival of fuel and follow up the distribution in coordination with the security directorates.

The Deputy Prime Minister was also assigned to hold meetings with the Ministry of Local Government and Municipalities and the Municipal Guard offices to define their precise roles in this mechanism.
