Representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, arrives in Cairo at the invitation of the Secretary-General of the Arab League.

Cairo, November 15, 2021 (LANA) - Representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Monday morning, at the invitation of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

    A statement by the Arab League stated that Aboul Gheit and Al-Koni reviewed - during a meeting at the League headquarters - the developments of the situation on the Libyan arena, and that the two parties agreed on the importance of holding elections according to the announced timetables, and the need to support the work of the Electoral Commission at this stage to achieve the electoral maturity.

    The two parties also stressed - according to the statement - the importance of the exit of all mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces from Libyan territory, and "the possible role of the League of Arab States, especially the Arab countries neighboring Libya in this area, by playing a mediating role with the countries to which these mercenaries belong to ensure their exit is gradual, balanced and simultaneous, avoiding Libya and all countries in the region from the potential risks of this exit."

     During the meeting, Al-Koni stressed that regional problems must be solved with regional initiatives, and that he relies a lot on the role of the Arab League in this regard.. He stressed the importance of the Arab League’s support for the electoral process in Libya and sending observers as a guarantee for the conduct of the elections in order to achieve their success.
