Constituent Assembly rejects third paragraph of the outcomes of the Paris conference related to call for incoming legislative authority to focus on drafting permanent constitution for the country.

Tripoli, 14 November 2021 (Lana) The Constituent Assembly rejected what was stated in the third paragraph in the political aspect of the outcomes of the Paris International Conference on Libya, related to call for the incoming legislative authority to focus on drafting a permanent constitution for the country that is acceptable to all.

In a statement signed by its president, Abdul Salam Ruhuma the Assembly confirmed that it has the original competence to prepare and draft the permanent constitution for the country, in accordance with the provisions of the interim constitutional declaration and the provisions of the Libyan judiciary, calling on all national and international concerned bodies to respect this competence and not to overstep legal jurisdiction of the Assembly.

The statement called on the concerned countries and the international community to respect the sovereignty of the state, and to stand by the will of the Libyan people, which they expressed by electing the Constituent Assembly, and they alone have the right to decide what it concluded.

The Constituent Assembly indicated that it will play its role in the future in full coordination with the competent legislative authority regarding completion of the remaining stages of the constitutional process.
