Tunisia, October 16, 2021 (LANA) - Tunisia and Algeria have agreed on the importance of good preparation for the success of the "Libya Stability Initiative" conference, which is scheduled to be held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in the coming days.

This came during phone conversations between Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman El-Grandi, and his Algerian counterpart, Ramtane Lamamra, after renewing his appointment to the new government staff in Tunisia, headed by Najla Bouden; They praised the convergence of views and the convergence of visions regarding the Libyan file, according to what the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

It is worth noting that ahead of the upcoming Libyan elections next December, Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush continues her efforts to mobilize international support for “Libya Stability” initiative, which was put forward by the Government of National Unity last June, while intending to present it at an international conference to be held this October in the capital Tripoli, and presented the initiative to Tunisia, Algeria, the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Morocco, Sudan, and the Arab foreign ministers.

The “Libya Stability” initiative includes the establishment of an international working group headed by Tripoli, which meets periodically at the level of foreign ministers, and works to create mechanisms for the withdrawal of mercenaries from Libya according to a timetable, in addition to mechanisms to solve security and economic problems, and unify the army under one leadership, as well as other sovereign institutions.
