Tripoli, October 16, 2021 (LANA) - The Russian company "Tatneft", Friday, resumed its operations in Libya after a 10-year hiatus.

On Friday, the Russian company commenced the completion of the specific drilling work for the well No. B-2-82 in Ghadames Basin in the Hamada Al-Hamra region, western Libya.

The National Oil Corporation said that the specific drilling work in well B-2 stopped in February 2011 at a depth of 3900 feet, noting that it is targeted to continue drilling to a depth of 8700 feet, and it is expected that it will take about 45 days to complete drilling operations.

The head of the Foundation, Mustafa Sanalla, considered that the resumption of Tatneft Company's exploration programs is a clear indication of the improvement in security conditions and that Libya has once again returned to the ranks of the targeted countries for investment in the oil and gas sector.

Sanalla affirmed that the Corporation is ready to provide full support to exploration companies operating in Libya and calls on them to follow the example of Tatneft Company and start resuming its exploration activities to implement the remaining seismic surveys, or drilling exploratory wells, or specific wells.
