The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discusses with the Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of Japan in Libya the coordination of development cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.

Tripoli, October 13, 2021 (LANA) - The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Cooperation and Organizations, Omar Keti, met today, Wednesday, with the Chargé d'Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Libya, "Masaki Amadera", at the Ministry's headquarters in Tripoli.

   During the meeting, they reviewed the support provided by Japan in the field of scholarships and training and qualification of Libyan cadres in the public and private sectors.

   The Undersecretary expressed the ministry’s desire to deal directly with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) by inviting them to sign a memorandum of understanding with the ministry, in order to benefit from Japan’s experiences in several areas, the most important of which are knowledge transfer in the field of science and information technology, and the localization of industry to achieve spatial development. Revitalizing the private sector by supporting small and medium enterprises.

     For his part, the Japanese Chargé d'Affairs reviewed, during this meeting, the areas of support provided by his country to Libya, referring to the scholarships offered to Libyan graduate students this year, in addition to a training course in the field of developing policies for small and medium-sized companies.

   At the end of the meeting, the Chargé d'Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Libya affirmed his country's full support for the elections scheduled for next December 24, and Japan's readiness to support the Libya Stability Initiative, and the international conference that Libya will organize regarding this initiative at the end of this month.
