Tripoli, 22 September, 2021 (Lana) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation "Najla Al-Manqoush" held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg on the sidelines of her participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The discussion dealt with bilateral relations and ways to activate the cooperation agreements signed between the two countries, which include several vital areas, and to a real partnership between Libya and Austria that will be translated into projects on the ground that benefit the two friendly peoples. The Minister of Foreign Affairs presented an overview of the latest developments of the political situation in Libya, and expressed her appreciation of Austria's support for the democratic process.
On the other hand, the two sides discussed the issue of illegal immigration and ways to address it, as the Austrian minister expressed his country's readiness to support Libya's efforts to curb illegal immigration, through a technical institution specialized in border protection. During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed the possibility of training Libyan diplomats in Austria at the Austrian Diplomatic Institute.
