Technical Committee to follow up implementation of ban of potassium bromate

Tripoli, 20 September, 2021 (Lana) - The Technical Committee following up the implementation of the decision to ban potassium bromate, headed by Khalifa Balao, began its field tasks, Monday, by visiting a number of flour factories and mills in order to determine their compliance with standard specifications. The website of the Ministry of Economy and Trade stated that the technical committee in charge of following up the implementation of the decision of the Minister of Economy and Trade No. 258 / 2021 regarding the ban on the import and prevention of the use of potassium bromate, conducted a tour during which it inspected a number of flour factories and mills in order to determine their compliance with the approved standards and health requirements and to take samples from flour substance. The head of the committee, Khalifa Balao, explained that the first phase targeted flour factories and mills in the western region and began assigning teams to take samples of flour in factories and mills in the eastern and southern regions to conduct the necessary tests on them, adding that the committee will withdraw samples of flour supplied to the local market as well as Conducting a survey on the improvers available in the Libyan market, conducting the necessary tests, and making sure that there is no potassium bromate or any substance harmful to public health.
