Libyan and Egyptian Ministers of Health discussing in Cairo the mechanism of activating the real partnership between the two sides.

Cairo, September 17, 2021 (LANA) - The Minister of Health of the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Zanati, discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Hala Zayed, a mechanism for activating the real partnership between the two sides in the fields of training and rehabilitation, and the field of managing some centers in Libya.

During the meeting - which came within the framework of the participation of the Ministry of Health in the eleventh session of the Egyptian-Libyan Joint Higher Committee held in Cairo - the content of the agreement signed in Tripoli on the twentieth of last April, and which had already entered into force by the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health had issued on the 22nd of last April a decision to treat Libyans as Egyptians in Egyptian government hospitals.

It also supplied Libyan hospitals with quantities of oxygen estimated at more than 700,000 liters, to cover the deficit that occurred, as a result of the Wadi Al Rabea plant stopping work.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to send an Egyptian team to evaluate some major hospitals, such as Tripoli University Hospital and Benghazi Medical Center, in order to actually start operating, managing and training cadres in the centers in order to localize treatment inside.

It was also agreed to start implementing the medical and paramedical training program prepared by the Human Resources Department at the Ministry of Health.

In the context of completing studies in the Egyptian fellowship; It was agreed to send Egyptian cadres to work in Libyan hospitals, and to approve some study centers in Libya, in order for the Libyan side to benefit from the Egyptian expertise, and for the Egyptian side to benefit by completing the period required for them to study.
