Pulbished on:

Tripoli, 28 August 2021(Lana) The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba addressed the nation in a nationally televised speech on Friday about his meeting with some members of Parliament and what has been discussed at the meeting and the message he wanted to put through.

He started by saying that the Libyan people is the one who elected Parliament and has representatives in it.

‘Government sceptics ask what had the Government done..and I say to them the government was set up by the very members of Parliament.. and it was in fact a government of quotas and appeasement. I am responsible for selecting just one or two of its members, he said.

Al Dbeiba said the inclusive Government since its inception forwarded a draft budget to the House of Representatives, which made some notes .. and we dealt with those notes and defended the budget.. and opportunities were lost for the Government for non-approval of the budget under weak pretexts and we think they were pre-meditated.

The obstructing of the budget is like blocking the lifeline of nation, Al Dbeiba said.

The Head of the Government talked about the Coronavirus pandemic saying the Government was able to vaccinate more than one million, and we have 3 million shots available and medical oxygen in quarantine centres.

The Prime Minister tackled the issue of pensions of retired people and the income support which he said the Government has decided to increase them by 100%. No one can live with dignity on LD 450 per month, it’s a massive injustice, he said.

He also spoke about a unified state employee payroll table for which he said an ad hoc committee is working on.

Al Dbeiba reviewed the Government plan to revive development projects in Libya through execution of development projects across the country starting as of the last quarter of the year, adding that the Government has earmarked the needed finance for this plan.

As for the electricity problem, the Head of Government said the problem was supposed to have resolved by now, but we affirm the solution is close by end of year.

The Head of Government said election would be held on set time Dec. 24, and that the Government has made security and logistical plans to conduct them.

He warned what he termed as losers and obstructers that they would have in place in Libya’s future.

The head of Government commented about charges leveled by some neighboring countries against Libya being a terrorist country, asking where did the 10000 terrorists who have entered the country come from. Terrorism came to us from abroad especially from some neighboring countries..our people fought terrorism and ISIS in Sirte and across the country, he said.

‘We are free people and cannot be labeled as terrorists ...you review yourselves before accusing us.. we are not prepared to accept previous scenarios ..we want to get down to work to build our country and to have good neighborliness with all countries.
