Tripoli, August 23, 2021  - Interior Minister Khaled Mazen refuted what was reported by a Tunisian Interpol cable regarding allegations of an attempt to infiltrate Tunisia through the Ben Guerdane border region by terrorist elements present at the Al-Wattia air base.

According to Al-Wasat News Gateway, the Minister of Interior denied what was stated in the Tunisian Interpol telegram in this regard.

Khaled Mazen said, "Al-Watiya Air Base is under the control of the Ministry of Defense, and it cannot be allowed in any way to be a launching pad for carrying out any sabotage terrorist acts that would destabilize security and stability."

He added, in a letter addressed to the Tunisian Interpol, "We monitor and follow up terrorist activity in all its forms, and we pursue those involved or those around whom there are suspicions through our anti-terrorist agencies."
