Tripoli, 23 July 2021(Lana) GUN Ministry of Interior has launched an investigation into the events in the capital on Thursday, which involved heavy gunfire exchange between patrol elements of the Stability Enforcement Body and Al Radaa body, both affiliated with the Interior Ministry. The clashes were ended but an inquiry was still underway to ensure that such actions do not happen again.
A statement published on the Ministry’s SMS page said ‘the Interior Ministry followed events on Thursday July 22, 2021, which involved an exchange of gunfire in central Tripoli, between patrols belonging to the Stability Enforcement Body and Al Radaa body for Combating Crime.’
The Acting Interior Minister Brigadier Bashir Al Amin instructed the competent authorities to follow up the reports, and to take the necessary measures including information gathering and investigation of the events as required under the law.
The Ministry reassured members of the general public that stability has been restored to the area and the situation is under control, and that ‘an investigation has been launched to determine what happened and to prevent such events from happening again.’
