Presidents Biden and Macron Underscore importance of Paris international conference on Libya.

Rome, 30 October 2021 (Lana) US President Joe Biden and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have underscored importance of the Paris International Conference scheduled to be held in the French capital on November 12, to discuss the crisis in Libya in light of the Libyan national elections on December 24.

A joint statement, issued after the meeting of the Presidents in the Italian capital Rome, on Friday, on the sidelines of the G 20 Summit, and published on the White House website said Biden and Macron supported Libya's sovereignty and independence.

“The President of the United States and the President of the French Republic met in Rome on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, to affirm their commitment to closer bilateral and transatlantic cooperation in the pursuit of peace, security and prosperity around the world, the statement said, adding that the meeting was based on the in-depth consultations announced in their Joint Statement issued on September 22, with the aim of creating the conditions to ensure confidence which underscores the strength of the old and historic relationship between the United States and France, underpinned by shared values of democracy, economic ties, and defense and security cooperation.
