Defence and National Security Committee Welcomes Opening of Coastal Highway, Demands Commander in Chief to Start Re-uniting the Military Immediately.

Tripoli, 31 July 2021(Lana) The Parliamentary Defence and National Security Committee has welcomed opening of the coastal highway linking Libya’s western region to the eastern, and demanded that the Commander in Chief of the Libyan Army start immediately unifying the military in accordance with the Law 11 of 2012 regarding the Army leading authorities, and to take measures against military men mingling in politics.

In a statement issued in Tripoli, a copy of which was obtained by Lana, the Committee stressed need for implementing the rest of provisions of the ceasefire signed in Geneva on October 23, 2020, including withdrawal of mercenaries and exchange of prisoners.
