(LANA) - The national unity government is participating in the work of the "Berlin 2" conference with a high-level political and economic delegation.

Berlin, June 22, 2021 (LANA) - The German Foreign Ministry said that the main countries concerned with the Libyan conflict will meet again tomorrow, Wednesday, in the capital, Berlin, in the framework of a new conference aimed at ensuring the holding of elections in Libya at the end of this year and the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from this country.

The conference - in which the Government of National Unity is participating for the first time with a high-level delegation - will discuss the transitional process in Libya since the last conference and the upcoming stages to impose permanent stability of the situation, according to what was reported by the German Foreign Ministry hosting the conference.

 The Secretary-General of the United Nations, "Antonio Guterres," is scheduled to make a video intervention. The United States will be represented by its foreign minister, "Anthony Blinken," who is on a European tour.

The main bet will be to ensure that presidential and legislative elections will be held on December 24, which the national unity government, headed by "Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba," promised to hold.

 The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity "Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba" and his accompanying delegation arrived this afternoon in Berlin on an official visit to Germany, during which he will participate in the "Berlin 2" conference and inaugurate the work of the Libyan-German Economic Forum.

The Libyan News Agency delegate to the capital, Berlin, stated that the Prime Minister is accompanied by a political delegation that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, "Najla Al-Manqoush", Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs, "Adel Juma'a", Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, "Walid Al-Lafi" and the official spokesman for the government, "Mohamed Hammouda". And a number of consultants and experts in ministries and state institutions.

The Prime Minister is also accompanied by an economic delegation consisting of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, "Suhail Abu Shiha", the President of the National Oil Corporation "Mustafa Sanalla", the President of the Libyan Investment Corporation, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company "Wiam Al-Abdali" and a number of economists and businessmen.
