British Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa Affairs Affirms Britain’s Support for Libya Transition to Democracy.

Tripoli, 10 June 2021(Lana) British Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa Affairs James Cleverly has affirmed his country’s support for Libya at this juncture and to Libya’s transition to democracy, indicating that this was ‘one of the bases of our relationship.’

In a joint press conference with GNU Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush in Tripoli, Cleverly expressed hope that Presidential and parliamentary elections would be held on set time in accordance with the roadmap on Dec.24.

Cleverly said he was delighted by the visit and the UK was prepared to work with Libya in all areas, saying there were a lot of opportunities for the two countries, and that it was in the interests of the UK that Libya benefit from the relationship between the two countries.

The British Minister said the British Prime Minister was interested in visiting Libya to meet Libyan officials.
