U.S. Embassy: Joy Hood's visit to Libya confirms Washington's support for the December 24 elections.

Tripoli, May 18, 2021  (LANA) - The American Embassy in Libya said that Acting Assistant Secretary of State "Joey Hood" and Special Envoy to Libya "Richard Norland" confirmed Washington's support for the Libyan elections in December 2021.

The embassy said in a statement today, Tuesday, that the visit of Acting Assistant Secretary of State Joey Hood and Special Envoy Richard Norland to Libya is of the highest level since 2014.

The statement added that "Hood" and "Norland" met with Prime Minister "Abdel Hamid Aldbaiba", Minister of Foreign Affairs "Najla Al-Manqoush", President of the Presidential Council Muhammad Almanfi, and President of the High National Elections Commission Imad Al-Sayeh to discuss areas of common interest, including reaching A comprehensive and negotiated Libyan-Libyan political solution to the conflict, facilitated by the United Nations, and full implementation of the Libyan ceasefire agreement reached on October 23.
