Berlin, May 6, 2021 (LANA) - Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu confirmed, Thursday, that his country provides military and advisory support to Libya under an agreement between two sovereign states.

Davutoglu said in a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in the German capital: (There are many foreign fighters and mercenaries in Libya, agreeing on the "necessity" of their withdrawal from there, but it is not in Libya's interest to end the support it needs, such as military training and advisory support, submitted "by Turkey" under an agreement between two sovereign states).

And he went on to (that third parties enter into bilateral agreements between two countries would not be a correct approach).

Cavusoglu stated that he exchanged views with his German counterpart on many regional and international issues.

He indicated that he visited Libya early this week, pointing out the importance of providing support to the new national unity government to prepare Libya for the elections and meet the people's demands.

Cavusoglu called for not to confuse the legitimate presence in Libya with foreign terrorist fighters.
