Jan Kupic Congratulating Libyans on Ramadan: We Hope it Would Opportunity for Reconciliation Based on Transitional Justice.

Tripoli, 13 April 2021(Lana) UN Special Envoy to Libya Jan Kupic congratulated Libyan on the fasting month of Ramadan, renewing a call for the Libyan authorities to work for providing services, uniting institutions and holding the elections on Dec. 24.

‘Libyans this year celebrate Ramadan without fear of war, destruction and the sounds of gunfire, and are able to mark the blessed month in peace , hoping that they will be able to overcome their differences and to work together to build a democratic state, Kupic said in remarks posted to the UN mission SMS page.

The UN Envoy highlighted the latest initiatives to release civilian detainees by various parties in east and west of the country.

He called on all parties to take inspiration from the blessed month, to make it an opportunity for national reconciliation that’s based on transitional justice.
