Tunis, April 10, 2021 (LANA) Saber Bougara, Executive Director of the Libyan-Tunisian Economic Cooperation Council, said today that the council is working to support trade and economic relations between Libya and Tunisia through the conclusion of many inter-agreements and support for investment, specifically in the private sector.

Tunis Africa News Agency quoted Bougara via a phone call on the sidelines of the opening of the Tripoli International Exhibition for Dates and Associated Industries, fruits and olive oil, as well as the Honey and Bee Products Festival, which opened the day before yesterday, Thursday the 8th of April, with an important Tunisian participation, as saying: (Initiatives and proposals have been presented. The decision-makers in the two countries should study them in order to return the commercial flow between them, especially since trade exchange has declined significantly since the beginning of 2010).

"We realize today that Libya is the commercial and economic artery of Tunisia, and the idea of establishing the Libyan-Tunisian Economic Cooperation Council came from this standpoint and given the encouragement by the officials of the two countries for their awareness of the importance of commercial and economic relations between the two parties," he added.

Bougara stressed that the Tunisian participation in this exhibition, which was supervised by the Center for the Promotion of Export, is an opportunity for Tunisian exhibitors to meet with suppliers and distributors from Libya and to link new and promising commercial relations with them, adding that Tunisia aims, through this participation, to confirm the restoration of promotional activities in the Libyan market, thanks to the common resolve. Which leads the exporters and the Center for Export Promotion to ensure a distinguished and continuous Tunisian presence towards this strategic market

The spokesman added, "Tunisia's participation in the exhibition represented an opportunity to enhance trade and economic exchange between Tunisian and Libyan companies in all industrial and service fields and trade exchanges, which would open new horizons for the Tunisian market in Libya and establish partnerships with the Libyan side’’.

In this regard, he called (Tunisian companies in general and Tunisian businessmen in particular to return to the Libyan market and to ensure the presence of Tunisia as a permanent strategic partner in Libya after the vote on the Libyan national unity government and the improvement of the security and economic conditions in it).

He also called on Tunisian companies to return to the Libyan market and work to bring Tunisian labor to Libya through their companies. He also called on the Tunisian government to facilitate banking transactions for Libyan businessmen to invest in Tunisia in the future and to facilitate residency procedures for them.
