Greek Prime Minister to Announce From Tripoli Return of Embassy to Work from Libyan Capital.

Athens, 1 April 2021(Lana) Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to be flanked with his Foreign Minister Nikolaos Dendias, will pay a visit to Tripoli on Tuesday April 6,  during which he is expected to announce return of Greek embassy to work from the capital after 6 years of closure.

French News Agency AFP quoted a Government spokeswoman Aristotelia Peloni as saying Mitsotakis would head to Tripoli ‘to normalize diplomatic relations’, adding the visit was an indication the embassy would be promptly re-opened .

The Greek Prime Minister will be meeting the President of Presidency Council Mohamed Al Mnefi and the Head of National Unity Government Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba.

The Greek Embassy in Tripoli was closed in July 2014, after a Greek frigate evacuated some 200 Greeks and other foreigners.
