Tripoli, March 28, 2021  (LANA) - The Minister of Transportation, "Mohamed Salem Al-Shahoubi" discussed this morning, Sunday, with the Italian ambassador to Libya, "Giuseppe Buccino", the possibility of activating the projects contracted between the ministry and Italian companies.

The meeting, which was held at the Ministry’s office in the presence of - the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications for Aviation, Air Transport and Human Resources, Heads of the Civil Aviation Authority and the Airports Authority, the Implementation and Management Agency of Emsaed Coastal Highway - Ras Ajdir, the Transportation Projects Implementation Agency and the Director of the Technical Cooperation Office - addressed the possibility of activating the contracted projects regarding Tripoli International Airport with The coalition of Italian companies (Aeneas) and the extent of the Ministry of Communications’ readiness to secure the airport to start the work of companies, and the possibility of re-operating Italian Airlines in Libyan airports, and the alternative road project Emsaed-Ras Ajdir coastal highway, and the procedures followed for implementation.

In the meeting, the Minister of Communications stressed the need to prepare for a meeting between the Transportation Projects Implementation Authority and Italian companies urgently to start implementing procedures for the stalled and contracted projects.

In turn, the Italian ambassador supported the Undersecretary's request for Italy's cooperation and support in opening the Libyan airspace to traffic between Europe and Libya, and promised to pay attention to this joint project between the two countries and Europe.
