The US Congress, with both chambers, supports the activation of its law on "Libyan stability."

Washington, March 5, 2021 (LANA) - The defense committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives (Congress) in the United States of America have expressed their support for the developments of the various political tracks aimed at stabilizing Libya.

The Libyan embassy stated in a statement on its Facebook account that (Libya's ambassador to Washington, Wafa Bucaekeis, during her recent meeting, informed the presidents of the House of Representatives and Senate in the United States about the developments taking place in the various tracks in Libya?).

The statement indicated that the talks shed light on the work of the "5 + 5" joint military committee, and the selection of the new executive authority through the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

It is worth noting that the US House of Representatives approved, last November, the Libya Stability Act, in which it pledged to punish those who “fuel” the conflict in the country, while US Congressman Ted Deutsch said that the law aims to support elections and provide assistance, as well as punish those who fuel the conflict in Libya.

The law would punish those who support mercenaries and militias, violate the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations, and commit human rights violations in Libya. Observers believe that this law is the beginning of a change in US policy towards the Libyan file after Biden came to the presidency, according to their expectations.
