Tripoli, February 27, 2021 (LANA) - The Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Aqila Saleh Essa, upon his arrival in Morocco on Friday, called on the members of the House of Representatives to hold a session in the city of Sirte on the eighth of next March. This is to discuss granting confidence to the national unity government if the 5 + 5 Military Committee confirms that it is securing the city, and if this is not possible, the venue will be in the temporary headquarters of the Libyan Parliament in Tobruk at the same time specified, as he put it.

However, the Chairman of the Military Committee (5 + 5), Major General Ahmed Abu Shahma, said today, Saturday: (The city of Sirte is still under the foreign presence that impedes a session of the Parliament there) in a safe manner.

Abu Shahma added that the Military Committee does not have any legal mandate to carry out such tasks, and no security force is affiliated to it on the ground in Sirte, calling on the Council to choose an appropriate place to hold the session with the competent authorities.

On Friday, news sites on the social network circulated pictures of mercenaries from the Sudanese Janjaweed and Russian Wagner wandering around the city of Sirte.
