Abdul Hamid Dbaiba announces his submission of the proposal and criteria for selecting the government to the House of Representatives.

Tripoli, February 26, 2021 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul-Hamid al-Dbaiba, announced the submission of a proposal and criteria for selecting the government’s structure to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives, accompanied by the outcomes of the Dialogue Forum and the Government’s Program.

Dbaiba said in the press conference held, Thursday, that he took into account the dimensions that the country experienced in the recent period and its recent exit from a state of acute conflict and the feeling of marginalization and absence of representation for many of the Libyan nation, as well as the problem of political and legal legitimacy and the division of institutions.

He added that he relied mainly on consultation and dialogue to prepare the proposal, noting that he had gone through intensive rounds of consultations with representatives of the electoral districts in the House of Representatives, as well as representatives of the Dialogue Committee, in addition to some representatives of the different components of society and communicated with all political parties and parties of the conflict.

He indicated that he had received more than 3000 CVs from various position candidates, and he was studying and evaluating 2,300 CVs of them.

Dbaiba explained that he adopted efficiency as the most important criterion for preparing the government's proposal, and took into account the equitable distribution between regions with regard to sovereign positions, in addition to the principle of consultation.

Al-Dbaiba said that he is aware that there are many entitlements before the government that is racing against time to provide services to citizens and address many challenges, the most important of which are the Corona pandemic, the electricity crisis and the provision of liquidity. Therefore, even before the government was formed, a process of communication with experts and institutions concerned with these files had begun to accelerate the process of addressing these problems immediately after Government accreditation.

Dbaiba thanked all leaders and representatives of friendly and brotherly countries, as well as representatives of regional and international bodies and organizations for the support they showed for the outcomes of the Libyan dialogue, led by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the efforts made by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, which supervised the Libyan dialogue rounds.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Libyan people, who expressed the extent of their hopes and welcome to assign us to head the government, stressing that the government will work diligently to achieve these hopes and ambitions.

Dbaiba called on representatives of media institutions and channels to take into account the sensitive circumstances the country is going through when dealing with various issues, as well as to avoid focusing on points of difference and conflict.
