Tripoli, 25 February, 2021 (Lana) - Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, confirmed that the proposal and principles for the foundations of the national unity government were sent this morning, Thursday, to the Presidency of the House of Representatives, and we are awaiting the parliament’s call to hold a session of granting confidence. Dabaiba said in a press conference held this evening in Tripoli that 3000 candidates applied to participate in the government, 2,300 files of candidates representing all regions, cities and components of the Libyan people were studied, and that the government would include technocrat ministers.
With regard to the sovereign positions, Dabaiba pointed out that the process of selecting who will assume the responsibilities of these positions will take into account the equitable distribution between the cities and regions of Libya. Dabaiba renewed his pledge to work on bottlenecks and problems, including the Corona pandemic and electricity, in addition to working on forming reconciliation committees.
Dabaiba revealed that women are represented in the new government in the prescribed rate or more, due to the competence and ability of Libyan women to deal with all files.
Dabaiba thanked the Libyan people for their understanding during all the stages that Libya has gone through, noting that there are a number of heads of state and government who have communicated with the government and have shown effective cooperation based on mutual respect.
Dabaiba called on parliament to expedite the approval and vote of confidence of the government, as well as the state's public budget.
