The Libyan Media Foundation prohibits the use of the name Libya or Libyan in the official name of all private media entities and companies.

Tripoli, February 25, 2021 (LANA) - The Libyan Media Foundation has banned the use of the name Libya or Libyan in the official name of all private non-state-owned media entities and companies except after obtaining written approval from the head of the institution.

The decision issued by the head of the foundation, "Mohamed Omar Baiyu" today, Thursday, stipulated that the visual channels and audio stations that use a name containing the word Libya or Libyan must be re-named within a period not exceeding three months from the issuance of the decision.

The decision also stipulated, in its third article, to oblige Libyan and foreign visual channels and audio stations that broadcast from Libya or that have offices in any Libyan city to submit their legal documents and obtain approval for broadcasting and work from the Libyan Media Foundation in accordance with the specified controls and fees.

The decision, which the Libyan News Agency received a copy, warned that this decision will be enforced from the date of its issuance, and it will be communicated to those concerned through media and documented correspondence.
