Tripoli, 24 February, 2021 (Lana) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord, Mohamed al-Taher Siala, affirmed the Libyan state’s full partnership with the international community to bring about peace, security and justice, and to confront human rights violations in the world, and in Libya in particular.

In a speech during the opening session of the 46th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council Wednesday, via closed circuit, "Siala" singled out the council’s support for Libya’s request to appoint a fact-finding committee in the resolution of the Human Rights Council at its 43rd session, hoping that it would work, and that the international community would seek to overcome the difficulties that have prevented the commission from starting its duties in the field, to document the importance of working on the human rights track to follow up and hold accountable all those who committed crimes against humanity and human rights violations in Libya and to avoid impunity in order to achieve the principle of justice and accountability.

In his speech, Siala stressed that this is among the core tasks of the fact-finding committee that the Libyan government has demanded, and that it is expected to start its field work.
