French Foreign Minister and the new UN envoy to Libya discuss efforts to settle the Libyan crisis.

Paris, 16  February, 2021 (Lana) - French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian has called for the formation of an inclusive government that represents all Libyan parties and handing it over the reins of power as soon as possible.  

In a statement published by the ministry on its website, the French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that "Le Drian" stressed during his talks with the new UN envoy to Libya Jan Kubis the need to fully implement the ceasefire agreement concluded on October 23, 2020, especially the departure of foreign forces and foreign mercenaries from Libya.

 Le Drian also pointed out the importance of adopting a real transitional process leading to the elections scheduled for the end of this year, after the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum appointed a transitional executive authority under the auspices of the United Nations.

The French Foreign Minister expressed to Kobeis his country's support for all the efforts made by the United Nations to end the political crisis in Libya and put an end to foreign interference.
