Geneva, 3 February, 2021 (Lana) - The Libyan Political Dialogue Forum concluded this evening, in Geneva, the hearings of the 21 candidates for the position of prime minister.

The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, expressed her appreciation for the level of commitment and patience shown by the forum members in listening to the applicants who presented their programmes and plans that they would implement if chosen to head the government.

In a short speech after the conclusion of the session, Williams clarified that the mission called on the candidates to submit written pledges to abide by the roadmap that was signed at the Tunis meeting and to hold the elections on time.

Williams emphasized that the mission asked the candidates to take into account the need for there to be a commitment to geographical diversity when forming the government and to the participation of youth and women, not less than 30 percent in leadership positions in ministries. The session moved to a closed meeting to discuss the lists and evaluate the programmes presented by each candidate.
