26 MPs Demand Renunciation of Geographical Considerations and Quota System in selecting sovereign Positions.

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, 27 January 2021(Lana) A number of Libyan MPs has rejected the outcome of Abu Zniqa talks, which they say were marked by geographical considerations and the quota system rather than competence, efficiency and professionalism.

A communique signed by 26 members of Parliament over the outcomes of the Abu Zinqa conference said they consolidated the quota system contravening the provisions of the Political Agreement stipulated for in the 8th article which provided for equality between all Libyans, fairness in political and civil rights.

The introduction of this system is a grave violation of the Political Agreement, the constitutional Declaration and yet a consolidation of discrimination and undermining of human rights and the concept of citizenship.

The members of the Political Committees were not authorized to conclude any agreements on sovereign positions, and their mission was to submit proposals to be put through, therefore what has been put out by those MPs over the sioveriegn posts was a violation of their competence and hence null and void, the MPs said.
