Promoting Women's Participation in Electoral Process .

Tripoli, 21 January, 2021 - The meeting of Chairman of the Council of the National High Electoral Commission Dr. Emad Al-Saeeh with representatives of the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the Libyan Women's Union focused on discussing topics related to women's electoral participation and ways to promote them in cooperation with civil society organizations concerned with women.  

The meeting, held at the Commission's Tripoli headquarters, reviewed features of women's electoral awareness plan and the possibility of involving the Union in implementing a package of future programmes and activities aimed at promoting women's electoral participation.

During the meeting, Al-Saeeh stressed that the Commission is counting on the civil society sector to make awareness plans and programmes a success, noting that the Libyan Women's Union project, which will bring together a wide range of women's organizations, will play an active role in the success of awareness campaigns for the elections to be held in December 2021. The meeting also discussed the mechanism of cooperation to make the women's union elections a success in its next session, and the advisory support provided by the Commission in this context.
