UNSMIL Mourns Victims of Academy Explosion in Janzour Area.

Tripoli, 20 January 20, 2021 (Lana The United Nations Support Mission in Libya paid tribute to the victims of the fire that broke out on Tuesday at the Naval Academy building in Janzour region, which was followed by an explosion in an ammunition store.  

The mission said in a statement Wednesday, that it received "with great sadness the news of the explosion that occurred at the Naval Academy in the Janzour area last night, due to an accidental fire, which resulted in the death of the commander of the Naval Academy and the Naval College, and the injury of others.

In statement, posted on its official website, the mission expressed its "deepest condolences to the Government of National Accord and the families of the deceased and their colleagues, and called for mercy to them, and wished speedy recovery for the injured."
