Maitiq discusses with the deputy ambassador and charge d'affaires of the American embassy in Libya the implications of the closure of oil installations.

Tripoli, July 27, 2020 (LANA) - During the meeting he held today, Monday afternoon, with the Deputy Ambassador and Charge d'Affairs of the United States Embassy to Libya, Mr. Joshua Harris, Vice President of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Omar Maitiq, discussed the military escalation of Haftar's forces in Sirte and Al-Jufra and his use of mercenaries to support his forces through which he seeks to control the country and its military. During the meeting held in the city of Misurata, the implications of the closure of oil ports and their effects on the general budget, currency exchange rates and commodity prices were reviewed, which negatively affected the economic reforms program. Mr. Joshua Harris stressed both communication with the relevant parties who constantly close the oil fields in order to re-export oil, and his country's supportive role in reaching an agreement that serves the interest of the Libyan people. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on combating corruption and transparent dealing with state institutions. Maitiq praised the role of the United States of America, which aims to stabilize Libya, and the resumption of the economic reforms program in order to alleviate the suffering of citizens due to the increase in commodity prices and the low exchange rate of the dinar by constantly closing the oil fields. ...
