The Kremlin: The Russian and Algerian Presidents discuss by phone peace efforts in Libya.

Moscow, July 14, 2020 (Lana) - The Kremlin said that Russian President "Vladimir Putin" and his Algerian counterpart, "Abdel Majid Taboun" stressed the need to strengthen international efforts to reach a settlement to the crisis in Libya by political and diplomatic means. This came during a phone call made by Algerian President "Abdel Majid Taboun" to his Russian counterpart, "Vladimir Putin," on Monday, according to the Kremlin statement. The Kremlin said that "Putin" and "Taboun" exchanged views on Libyan developments. The two leaders affirmed support for the ceasefire and the resumption of dialogue between Libyans, in accordance with the results of the Berlin Conference on Libya in January 2020 and UN Security Council Resolution 2510. They also indicated the necessity of strengthening international efforts to reach a settlement to the crisis in Libya by political and diplomatic means. "Putin" and "Taboun" confirmed their mutual intention to further strengthen the Algerian-Russian strategic partnership in various fields, including coordination in the global oil market with regard to the OPEC agreement and cooperation in combating the pandemic of the emerging Corona virus.
