GNA Minister of Economy Says Measures Will be Taken Against Price Gauging.

Tripoli, 19 March 2020(Lana) GNA Minister of Economy Ali Al Isawi called on law-enforcement bodies to follow up on violations of trade practices law especially regarding prices of food and medical supplies. Al Isawi said in a statement, he addressed a letter to the Ministry of Local Government to instruct the Municipal Guard to exercise direct follow up measures against food necessities and medical supplies manipulators. He demanded that companies, retailers and pharmacies must be compelled not to manipulate prices, and warned that measures would taken against violators. He said this was in response to instructions issued by the GNA Presidency Council to combat CoronaVirus, and as a commitment to free flow of goods and prevention of monopoly and exploitation. Food and medical supplies prices have seen considerable hikes over the last few days as a result of panicking people rushing to buy food and sanitizers in fear of spread of CoronaVirus. =Lana=
