International Trafficking Gang Seized in Benghazi.

Benghazi, 28 November 2019(Lana) An international gang working in partnership with Egyptian parties in trafficking and extortion operations was seized in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, a security official said. The gang is working in Benghazi and has affiliates in Ajdabiya, Bani Walid and Sabrata, it hides its activity under a cover of public contracting company recruiting expatriate workers, said Majdi Al Orafi, Director of Communication of the Benghazi Security Directorate. The gang operation in Egypt is led by a woman, which coordinates work between different affiliates, Al Orafi said, indicating that 'expatriate workers fall victims of the gang, and are exploited and blackmailed soon after arrival in the Libyan territories by asking their relatives for ransom.' Some pay additional money to be smuggled on migrants boats in Sabrata in coordination with the gang members there, the security official added. =Lana=
