EU: Attack on Tripoli threatens international security.

Brussels, 14 May 2019 (Lana) EU considered the military attack on
Tripoli and its surroundings and consequent escalation represents a
threat to international peace and security and harms stability of
Libya. This came in a statement adopted by member states foreign
ministers in Brussels Monday after they discussed the situation in
Libya with the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame.
The Foreign ministers called on Libyan parties to distance
themselves from terrorist and criminal elements engaged in fighting
and individuals implicated in war crime including those individuals
which names are on UN list.
The EU called on all parties to work for cease-fire immediately
and collaborate with the UN for the compete cease of hostilities.
They also called on the belligerents to protect civilians
including refugees and immigrants and facilitate the access of
humanitarian assistance for all those who needed it.
The EU reminded that attacks on populated areas could amount to
war crime and whoever violates international humanitarian law must be
hold to account.
